BotDetect CAPTCHA Licensing Information
Please read the following section carefully, and decide which of the options best fits your intended use of our product.
BotDetect CAPTCHA Website Edition Licenses
1 (one) Website Edition license stands for:
- using the component on 1 website
With this licensing option, multiple licenses are required for multiple websites.
A website (or Web site) is a collection of web pages, typically common to a particular domain name or sub domain on the World Wide Web on the Internet. For example: www.yourdomain.com and investors.yourdomain.com are considered as different websites and require separate website edition licenses.
Example number of required Website Edition licences:
One person working on multiple websites running on the same server:
- 1 person, 1 development machine, 3 websites = 3 licenses
One person working on a website, using multiple computers:
- 1 person, 2 development machines, 1 website = 1 license
Multiple persons, development machines, websites and servers:
- 5 persons, 4 development machines, 2 websites = 2 licenses
BotDetect CAPTCHA Developer Edition Licenses
1 (one) Developer Edition license stands for:
- 1 person (developer/webmaster) using the component on
- an unlimited number of development machines to create
- an unlimited number of websites (domain names or IP addresses or servers)
With this licensing option, a single license is required as long as a single person is using it during development (design time). He/she may utilize a single license on more than one machine as long as it is not shared by other developers. This means, for instance, that a single license may be used on an office machine, a home machine, and a laptop.
This license is deployment free – you do not pay per-server deployment fees when deploying an application using our component to multiple servers. Also, it is royalty free – you do not pay per-client royalty fees when selling an application using our component to multiple clients.
Please note that all sales of licenses which include source code are final, which applies to BotDetect Developer Edition.

One person working on multiple websites running on the same server:
- 1 person, 1 development machine, 3 websites = 1 license
One person working on a website, using multiple computers:
- 1 person, 2 development machines, 1 website = 1 license
Multiple persons, development machines, and websites:
- 5 persons, 8 development machines, 30 websites = 5 licenses
Important note! This license does not cover redistribution of any elements used during development (design time). E.g. when developing a server-side component which includes BotDetect, you must purchase a special OEM license which includes the payment of royalties.
